She was predeceased by: her parents, Kermit LaVerne and Agnes Pecola Burkhart (Tracht); her in-laws, Lewis and Josephine Yirga (Waterhouse); her sister Linda Preston (Burkhart); her nephew Steven Barr; and her niece Sue Barr (Day).
She is survived by: her husband Jerry Allen Yirga; her children, Michael Allen Yirga and Carey Ann Yirga; her son-in-law Ismael Betancourt; and her siblings, John Burkhart (Marlene), Louise (Raymond) and Ken Burkhart (Mary). She is also survived by three grand fur babies.
