She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. James M. Lavin; her parents, William P. Smedley and Regis Smedley (Farrell); and her siblings, Dr. William P. Smedley (Kay), Dr. Robert R. Smedley (Marian) and Dr. Margaret Ann Smedley.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Lavin of University Heights, James M. Lavin (Maria) of Cincinnati and Sean T. Lavin (Angela) of Avon; and her grandchildren, Catherine, Sophia, Brenna, Anna and James. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home (5252 Mayfield Rd, Lyndhurst, OH 44124). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Gesu (2470 Miramar Blvd, University Heights, OH 44118).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Dr. James M. Lavin Scholarship Fund at John Carroll University, which benefits students in need of financial assistance. (Please contact JCU at 216-397-4989.).
