He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Gillespy and Mildred Gillespy; his former wife Joan Murphy Gillespy; his son Robert Gillespy; and his sister Janet Farrell.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Gillespy of Uniontown, OH; his children, Roy Gillespy (Sharon) of Garner, NC, Bonnie Mayer (Edward) of Saugerties, NY, Brenda Poore (Thomas) of Laurel, MD and Belinda Lloyd (Martin) of Wendell, NC; his stepchildren, Cindy Volk (William) of Akron, OH and Gary Kelly of Charlotte, NC; and his siblings, Mervin Gillespy, Darlyn Welch and Richard Gillespy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.
