He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Arthur and Eva Josephine Ellwood (Keffer); his wife Stella Jean Applegarth; his granddaughter Angel; and his siblings, Arthur "Ace" Ellwood and Betty Kinsey.

He is survived by: his children, William Ellwood, Jr., Betty "Cookie" Howell (Mike), Jackie Dowdel (Terry) and Eva Tinney (Ronnie); his grandchildren, Sean, Mike Jr., April, Carlene, Douglas, Elizabeth, Jodie and Kevin; his great grandchildren, Sierra, Joshua, Shannon, Jacob, Alexius, Brooke, Courtney, Gavin, Aubrey, Austin, Hunter, Skylar and Trinity; his great great grandchildren, Averie, Rilynn, Kennady, Angel, Finley, Shiloh, London, Salem, Spencer, Harmony and Greyson; and his sisters, Mary Lou Abbuhl and Sarah Wilson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
