He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfonso Tantarelli and Helen Margaret Tantarelli (Taffa); his siblings, Louis, Tony Tantarelli, Mary Ann Milligan and Rose Copeland; and his brother-in-law Dale Poletti.

He is survived by: his children, John D. Tantarelli, Jr., Vinnie Tantarelli (Angel), Ronnie Tantarelli and Shawn Kelly Nelson (Cory); his grandchildren, Nathan (Morgan), Courtney (Geoff), Nakayla (Jon), Cole, Reed and Della; and his siblings, Phyllis Poletti and Vincent Tantarelli.
