He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Preece and Viola Preece (Shilling); his grandson DJ Preece; and his sisters, Kathleen, Lois and Jane.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Leona Safreed; his children, Douglas Preece (Denise) and Brenda Pace (Steve); and his grandchildren, Sean Pace (Jeannie), Nathan Pace (Amy) and Arden Preece.
