He is survived by: his grandmother Florence Kitchens Phezell Played; his wife Lola Mae; his son David Christopher; his brother John Sampson; his children, Valerie Ann King, Lolita Marie Cooper (James) and Roy Fitzgerald Catchings (Trecia); his grandchildren, Charles Fredrick Camille Monique (Ebony), Alexander Roy (Chrissy), Brett Fitzgerald (Stephiniea), Chelsea Jo, Crutcher Spencer (Brandon) and David James Spencer; his great grandchildren, Cameron Andrew, Jordan Reese, Charles Fredrick Jr., Mikaili Lillie, Caleb Elijah, Kaia Jo and Kendall Annalise; his sisters, Suzanne Vikstrom of Hollywood, CA and Johnnie Mae Young of Chicago, IL; and also Millard Catchings. He is also survived by brother; and numerous friends.
