He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulysees Shuman and Ethel Shuman; and his sister Kathy Malinda Shuman. He is survived by: his wife Msimbi; his siblings, Jacquelyn Cobb, Akbar Jamall (Nancy), Patricia Brown and Kenneth Shuman (Sharon); his grandchildren, Jazmine Shuman, Jamall Shuman II, Jayla Shuman, Adeyinka Karunwi, Adedeji Karunwi, Mansa Shuman, Colette Shuman and Jamison Shuman; and his friend Toledo. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews.
One of his proudest moments as an art collector was donating from his collection to the Toledo Museum of Art.
