He is survived by: his daughter Allison; his son-in-law Ryan Murphy; his parents, Joanne Katterheinrich and Larry Katterheinrich; his grandmother McClung; his nieces, Danielle Scott (Josh), Denise Maraugha (Mitch), Rebecca McClung, Courtney Apel (Lucas), Cori Fischer, Colette Fischer, Paiton Russell and Paxton Russell; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Colton, Louise, Hope, Emily and Loralei; his stepsister Tana Ohneck; and his friend Amy Due (Bodkin).

Dennis cared for many charities, including: The ALS Association, ALS TDI, Vision Ministries, Cherry Street Mission, Alzheimer's Association, and the American Cancer Society. Memorial contributions are suggested to any of these organizations in his honor.
