He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Potteiger and Marcella Potteiger (Rumschlag); his son Gary Potteiger; his granddaughter Megan Potteiger; and his siblings, Charles, Terry, Robert Potteiger, Carol Correll and Darlene Best.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Potteiger (Linda) of Marion, Jayne Ragon (Kurt) of Arlington, TX, Jeffrey Potteiger (Linda) of Tiffin and Richard Potteiger (Jenna) of Findlay; his stepchildren, Scott Colbert (Angela) of St. Louis, MO and Debbie Edwards Meissner of Mt. Gilead; and his siblings, Theodore Potteiger (Jane) of Findlay, John Potteiger (Sue) of Fostoria, Floyd Potteiger (Pat) of Van Buren, Deborah Kroeschel (Joe) of Vanderbilt, PA and Francis Kay Dallen (Ron) of Pahrump, NV.. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren.
