He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale M. Oakleaf and Mary Jane Oakleaf (Wilkinson); and his son Randal James Oakleaf. He is survived by: his wife Lisa (Reed); his children, Russel Oakleaf (Jessica) of Tiffin and Dendara McDonald (Douglas) of Bucyrus; his grandsons, Braiden and Gavin Oakleaf; and his sisters, Judy Mohr (Michael) of Fremont, Connie Kemming (Edward) of Norwalk, Nancy Oakleaf of Fremont and Karen Seils (Timothy) of Grove City. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Braiden and Gavin Oakleaf for a scholarship fund that will be set-up in c/o Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 North Washington Street, Tiffin, OH 44883.
