He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Kies and Gertrude Kies (Strong); his children, Ronda Kies and Brad Kies; and his brother Jack Kies.

He is survived by: his daughter Kim Herman (Ron Ranker) of Tiffin; his grandchildren, Alexandria Klaiss (Zeile) of Powell and Madison Herman of Houston, TX; his great grandchildren, Brynn of Powell and Riley Klaiss of Powell; and his sisters, Diana Magers of Colorado and Carol Ogilvie of Calif.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T.
