He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Kirchner and Nancy Kirchner (Chaffee); and his brothers, Michael and Terry Kirchner. He is survived by: his children, Kelly Kirchner of Tiffin, Adam Leaf of Findlay, Jessica Kirchner and Ricky Kirchner; and his siblings, Edward Kirchner (Suki), Glenn Kirchner (Kay) of Tiffin, Cheryl Soley (Gary) of Angleton, TX. and Annette Kirchner of Angleton, TX.. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
