He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris G. Alspach (Heyman) and Richard L. Alspach Sr.; and his brothers, Richard L. Alspach Jr. (Dickie) and William C. Alspach (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Jessie S. Alspach; his sons, Matthew Gurney of Maumee and Ryan Gurney (Erica) of Findlay; his grandchildren, Tyler Gurney, Megan Gurney and Ethan Gurney; his sister Diane Weaver (Jeff) of Clyde; and his nephew Richard "Rich" Weaver (Denyce).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
