He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen O. Rathburn and Ann M. Rathburn (Withrow); his stepfathers, Eldon Nye and Alfred Heilman; and his brother Charles Alford.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia J. Hoerig of Tiffin; his sons, Brad Rathburn (Janine Meisner) of Tiffin and Doug Rathburn (Erynn); and his grandchildren, Greta and Jensen "J. B.".
