He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Kraus and Jean Gillespie-VanHorn; his stepfather Glen VanHorn Sr.; and his siblings, Dick, Michael Kraus and Amy Lemmon.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Shaffer; his children, Dustin Kraus (Kara) of Delaware and Nicole Menning (Tom) of Toledo; and his siblings, Joe Kraus (Cindy) and Teri Myers of Upper Sandusky.
