He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. and Mary C. Smith (Lucius); his son Matthew G. Smith; and his siblings, Robert Smith, Jr., Donald Smith, Peggy Barnes and Georgianne Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth Smith of Tiffin; his children, Fred Smith, Jr. (Susan) of Tiffin, Frieda Cooley (Dean) of Tiffin, Elizabeth Leslie (Joel) of Morral, Andrea Frankart (Larry) of Republic and Kelly Smith (Mike) of Toledo; his daughter-in-law Jean Smith of Portsmouth; his siblings, Joseph Smith (Diane) of Tiffin, Julie Walter (John) of Bascom and Janice Smith of Fostoria; and also Aaron Good. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
