He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Audley" and Evelyn Laugherty (Shelt); his siblings, Wade, Kenneth Laugherty and Anna Mathias; his half-siblings, Bob, Harold, Ray, Paul Platt, William Laugherty Jr., Eva Jean Rodgers (Platt), Dorothy Southward (Platt) and Juanita Deffenbaugh (Laugherty); and his son-in-law Robert Shellhammer.

He is survived by: his spouse Susann Kin; his children, Douglas Laugherty (Jeannie), Debra Ward (Michael) of Lake Worth, Fla., Rhonda Shellhammer of Tiffin, Tina Vera (Tony) of Tucson, Ariz, Kim Lang (John) of Fostoria and Becky Welly (Kenny) of Tiffin; his brother Larry Laugherty (Carolyn) of Tiffin; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Laugherty, Sharon Laugherty and Loretta "Eddy" Platt of Tiffin. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.
