He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvill Phelps and Hazel Phelps (Byers); his siblings, Orville, Donna, Marion, Bonnie and Phyllis; and his pet Abby.

He is survived by: his wife Merry L. Bright; his daughters, Amy L. Wasson and Lori Miller (Rich); and his grandchildren, Emily (Jake), Allissa, Lindsey, Sydney and Julia.
