He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas and Mary Thomas; his wife Marilyn Jean Thomas; and his brother Donald Thomas. He is survived by: his sons, Neal (Laurie), James and Douglas (Patti); his sister Mary Jo Hoffman; his nephews, Michael and Randy; and his niece Bethany. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
