He was predeceased by: his wife Anna; his parents, Juan Rivera and Maria Rivera; his former wife Helen (Trumpka); his son Stephen; his siblings, Juan Rivera and Marie Figerola; and his grandchildren, Linda Rivera and John Smithers.
He is survived by: his sons, John Rivera (Maryann) of Streetsboro and Joseph Rivera (Laura) of Northfield Center; and his grandchildren, Julie Sotak (Andy), John, Jr., Jennifer Browning, Jeremy (Cherie), Dawn Nester (John), Linda Smithers, Joseph (Gabby), Dan and Gina. He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
