He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Pettit; his children, Tamara Jaffal, Ruth Ann Sater and Samuel Pettit; his parents, James R Pettit and Thelma Kelly; and his siblings, Ramona Pajestka, Delores Greenmiller, Ronald Pettit and James Pettit.

He is survived by: his sons, James R. Pettit (Mildred) of Akron, John L. Pettit of Cleveland and Thomas Peters (Mary) of Fort Myers, FL. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
