She was predeceased by: her parents, Maynard J. Short and Marian Johnson Short. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Benjamin Shain; her sons, David and Michael Shain; and her brothers, Douglas A. Short (Linda) of Syndey, Stephen J. Short (Virginia) of Granite Bay and Mark D. Short (Cheryl) of Wapakoneta, Ohio. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
