Robert David Steel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce Robert David Steel, 82, of Maumee, OH, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, at Ebeid Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 31, 1940, to Robert and Bonnie Steel in Toledo, OH. He married his sweetheart—the girl next door—Shirley (Meyers), on May 11, 1963, and they raised their three children together in Maumee, OH.
In 1958, he graduated from Maumee High School and went on to earn an MBA from Bowling Green State University. He then worked as a licensed CPA for nearly 60 years. He also coached boys’ club and girls’ high school soccer and worked as a FIFA certified referee. As an employee and active member of Maumee United Methodist Church, he taught Sunday school, volunteered in Kairos Prison Ministry, and participated in Emmaus retreats. He’s remembered fondly as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend as well as a committed Christian, an exceptional soccer coach, and a “dad” to many beloved dogs.
He is survived by his fabulous wife of nearly sixty years, Shirley; his children, Bryan [Julie], Jennifer [Peter], and Derek [Deanna]; eight grandchildren, Bryce [Lori], Bailey [Jonas], Courtnee, Brandy [John], Desiree [Alexander], Aleah [Michael], Sariah [Brandon], and Lincoln; six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jacob, Kaeden, Bria, Layla, and Junia; sister, Penny; sisters-in-law, Pat and Lorrie; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Jack; brother-in-law, Rob; and daughter, Stephanie.

The family of Dave Steel would welcome your attendance to a Memorial Service honoring Dave's life. Please share and invite anyone who would like to be a part.
Time/Date: Sunday April 23rd at 1:00pm followed by a full luncheon, which allows for a time of fellowship and visitation with the family.
Location: Maumee United Methodist Church. Please note that the church’s Sunday morning services end at 12:15 and the memorial service will take place at 1:00pm.
Flowers/Donations: The church is open for the receiving of flowers up until 4pm on Saturday April 22nd. Donations to the church can be given in Dave's honor, there will be a place to do so at the service or you can reach out to the church directly.
Burial: As it was Dave's wish to be cremated the family will hold a private cremation-burial service at another date.
