She was predeceased by: her father Elmer VanHoose; and her sisters, Carol Stewart (Gene) and Rita VanHoose. She is survived by: her husband Frank Applegate; her son Frank; her daughter-in-law Bobbie Applegate IV; her daughter Kimberly Applegate; her grandsons, Quintin and Alexander; and her sisters, Mary Blankenship, Bonnie Tolliver and Paula Caldwell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

She later worked helping Alzheimer's patients.

It is rare these days to find such a lasting friendship.”
