He was predeceased by: his parents, Urban Oakes and Matilda Oakes; and his wife Marilyn Oakes. He is survived by: his children, Donald Oakes (Dorene), Paul Oakes, Diane Oakes and Linda Nash; and his grandchildren, Jim Oakes (Renata) and Laura Klingbeil (James). He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
