It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvina Schaffer of Spencerville, Ohio, born in Hammond, Indiana, who passed away on March 15, 2022, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Cloy C. Kerr and Marie Kerr (Binkley); her husband David P. Shaffer; her son Rocky A. Shaffer; her grandson Jeffery Shaffer; and her siblings, Norma Blystone, Leroy Kerr, Eugene Kerr and Eleanor Woolf.
She is survived by: her children, Nathan D. Shaffer (Tiz), Irene M. Oakman (Barry) and Robbin L. Shaffer (Rose) of Shalimar, FL; her daughter-in-law Pauline Shaffer; her grandchildren, April Riley (Rick Hardesty), Brian Oakman (late Deb), Misty Wilson (Tim), Ben Shaffer (Whitney), Mike Shaffer (Teresa), Teresa Arthur and Dustin Shaffer; her great grandchildren, Cole, Calvin and Caden Wilson; and her grandchildren, Addison, Elliana, Sophia Shaffer, Austin, Noah Riley, Jordyn, Caitlyn Oakman, Jessica Shaffer, Devon, Cameron Shaffer, Alex, Brandon Shaffer, Blake and Isabell Shaffer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe directed to the Spencerville United Church of Christ Quilting Fund for Veterans in Hospice.
