The memory of John M Whitling of Spencerville, Ohio, who passed away on December 20, 2024 at the age of 71, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, John M. "Jack" Sr. Whitling and Betty Mae Whitling (Pond); his wife Diane "Dee" Smith; his brother Michael Whitling; his son-in-law David Gillispie; and his brother-in-law Ron Parrine.
He is survived by: his daughter Tara Gillispie of Spencerville; his grandchildren, Keaton Gillispie (Morgan) of Shawnee, Madison Whitling of Lima, Anna Whitling of Ottawa, Landyn Gillispie of Spencerville and Ella Gillispie of Spencerville; his great grandchild Palmer Gillispie; his sisters, Carla Baer (Michael Sr.) of Spencerville, Cheryl Morgan (Kent) of Lima and Diana Degen (Don) of Lima; and his sisters-in-law, Patty (Danny), Newark, Judi Parrine of Wapakoneta, Janet Smith (Bill) of Powell and Sherri Kalb of Wapakoneta. He is also survived by six nephews and four nieces.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home (728 E 4th St, Spencerville, OH 45887). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to Lima Memorial Hospice in honor of John.
