It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Holtzapple of Spencerville, Ohio, born in Shawnee, Ohio, who passed away on December 16, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert D. Nunn and Evelyn Copus Nunn (Sheldon); her husband James E. Holtzapple; her daughter Kathy Joyce Shafer; her grandson Jason Shafer; her great grandchild Beckham Rider; and her siblings-in-law, Grace Miller (Art), Harry Alspaugh and Bill Sharpe.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Kay Vaden (Al) of Spencerville and Doug Holtzapple (Bobbi) of Spencerville; her grandchildren, Cara Wellmeier (David) of Zanesville, Amber Evans (Rob) of Spencerville, Andy Shafer (Allison) of Bluffton and Ashley Rider (Donovan) of Mt. Pleasant, S. C.; her great grandchildren, Noah, Ava Wellmeier, Logan, Kolleen, Kelsey Shafer, Olivia Rider, Vini Souza and Sanghoon Lee; her sister Joyce Sharpe (Ken Bryan) of Lima; her sister-in-law Edna Alspaugh of Lima; and her pet Echo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
