He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Place and Hazel Irene Sunderland Place; his son David G. Place, MD; and his siblings, Ira C. Place (Marjorie), Carl G. Place and Annabelle P. Bowsher (Robert).
He is survived by: his wife Grace Monfort; his children, Michael A. Place (Bev) of Spencerville and Cara B. Vandemark (Lynn) of Spencerville; his grandsons, Keaton B. Vandemark (Carly Frey) of Lima and Logan B. Vandemark (Makayla) of Van Wert; his stepgrandchildren, Michael D. Crisp (Ashley) of Spencerville and Sarah J. Crisp of Findlay; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Trevor of Spencerville, Rylee of Spencerville and Chase Crisp of Spencerville; and his sister-in-law Betty Place of Spencerville.
