He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Hysell and Maybelle Hysell; his wife Linda J. Hysell; his daughters, Dorcas Strickland (Tim) and Susie Brown (Buddy); his siblings, Don Hysell (Betty) and Sandy Henry (Ron); and his granddaughters, Chelsea Tritle (Quinton), Christa, Carah Brown and Kaylie Strickland. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Dick's name to the Purple Heart Association.
