He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Early Deitz and Wilma Quick Deitz; his brother-in-law Bill Woodley; and his in-laws, Ralph William Holmes and Anna Lou Holmes.

He is survived by: his children, Stephanie Sliger, Jason Deitz (Amber) and Natalie Fischer (Rob); his grandchildren, Grace Sliger, Camryn Sliger, Jon Deitz, Noah Fischer, Mackenzie Fischer, Caleb Fischer, Addison McDearis, Liam McDearis and Ila McDearis; his sisters, Mary Beth Storrs (Davies) and Barbara Woodley; his former wife Debbie Holmes; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Holmes (Sandra) and Dave Holmes (Dorothy). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
