He was predeceased by: his father James "Curt" Nicely; and his brother S. David Nicely. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca "Becky" Nicely; his children, Cheryl Nicely Adkins and Christopher Nicely (Lisa); his grandchildren, Sumer Wilson (Joseph), Samantha Mowel (Brandon), Michael S. Adkins (Brittish) and Jacob Nicely (Charli); his great grandchildren, Faithe, Braxton, Madilynn, Ava, Ellie, Daigyn, Aleeah and Raylin; and his siblings, Lisa Clark (Elvis) and Gene Nicely (Willa). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
