With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Scherer (South Point, Ohio), born in Ironton, Ohio, who passed away on August 29, 2021 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Scherer to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph Scherer and Grace Armelda Justice Scherer; and his siblings, William Scherer, Ruth Hughes (Scherer), Thomas Scherer, Gertrude Davis (Scherer), Patricia Ann Ash (Scherer), Joyce Gillum (Scherer) and Charles Scherer.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores Scherer (Slater); his sons, James Darin Scherer (Sherry) of Ashland, KY, Evan Scherer (Shawn) of Pittsburg, PA and Jason Scherer (Angie) of Cincinnati, OH; his brother Jacob Scherer (Mary) of Verona, NY; his grandchildren, Krista Scherer, Stevie Scherer, Morgan Scherer and Abbie Scherer; and his close friends, Terry Wise and Terry Walls. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; numerous special nieces, nephews, four step-children, 10 step-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
Masks and social distancing will be required to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington.
