He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Ray "Pete" Ackerson and Marie Crank Ackerson; and his brother Randy Ackerson. He is survived by: his children, Josh Ackerson, Kevin Ackerson and Garri Carey; his siblings, Sandy Merritt (Mike) and Darrell Ackerson (Kelly); his grandchildren, Mackenzie Knight (Travis), Joell Ackerson, Jessica Jenkins (Chris) and Lani Carey; his great grandchildren, Canaan Knight, Brooklyn Hitchcock, Justin McKee, Devyn Jenkins and Zacharia Jenkins; and his nieces and nephews, Tara Morrison, Hannah Merritt, Eli Merritt, Abby Morrison, Jason Ackerson and Emily Ackerson.
