He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Paul Abbott and Bernice Irene Mann Abbott; his wife Patricia Starkey Abbott; and his son Walter Paul Abbott. He is survived by: his daughters, Letitia Abbott and Sherry Scheuermann; and his grandchild Casey Lee Scheuermann.
