He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas and Gladys Thomas; his siblings, Fred C., Paul and Sue; his son John Earl Thomas; and his great grandchild Anthony Mason Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda Thomas (Ratliff); his daughters, Mary Brightman (Mike), Jane Travis (Roger), Donna Hall (Jim) and Christina Evans (Robert Fuller); his sister Helen Thomas; his grandchildren, Carl Baker (Ashley), Jesse Evans, Michael Hall (Brandy), Tiffany Keglor (Chaz), Bryan Brightman (Beth), Courtney Shaw (Adam) and Joshua Hall (Carrie); his great grandchildren, Kelsey, Hunter, Alex, Christopher, Braydon, Liam, Tyler, Eli, Rubyjune, Sherye, Kaelyn, Jacob and Jada; and also, John Ratliff (Penny), Paul Hallaway (Nancy) and Mike Ratliff (Doris).
