He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; his siblings-in-law, Willard Stickney, James Agle and Catherine Agle; and his great grandchild Kiley Nicole Flax.
He is survived by: his parents, Ward Flax and Oletha Flax (Morningstar); his children, Richard Flax (Peggy), Emily Little (Eugene), Marcia A. Flax and Jay Flax (Jill); his grandchildren, Gregory Flax (Holly), Melanie Wilt, Cindy Brown (Thomas), Kevin Flax, Justin Flax (Kim), Jeremy Flax (Marissa), Jennifer Bollinger (Pete), Eric Little (Maria), Megan Quist (Nathan) and Janet Massie (Jacob); his great grandchildren, Ryan Flax, Andrew Flax, Lauren Flax, Jordan Flax, Jayse Flax, Lane Flax, Reese Flax, Jacob Flax, Addie Wilt, Ava Bollinger, Vella Bollinger, Cade Brown, Camden Brown, Parker Little and Mila Quist; his sister Norma Jean Stickney; and his brother-in-law John Agle (Carolyn). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
