He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gillis and Dora Olene Taylor (Lowrimore); his son Douglas Taylor; and his brother Melvin Taylor. He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Taylor of Sidney and Kimberly Jess of Sidney; his grandchildren, Brian Taylor (Jessica), Ryan Walker (Elizabeth O'Hair), Jessie Kizer (Michelle) and Chase Kizer (Kristin); his sister Peggy Johnson; and his close friend Virginia Decker. He is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.
