He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Ely; and his brother Michael Ely. He is survived by: his children, Kurt Ely of Columbus, Bart Ely of Ohio City, Dana Jones (Larry) of Sidney and Gretchen Schneider (Mark) of Wapakoneta; his stepsons, Gary Phipps (Charlotte) of Sidney, Matthew Phipps of Wright Wyoming and Michael Phipps (Michelle) of Wright, Wyoming.; his siblings, Dennis Ely of Sanford, Florida, Brenda Frantom (Kenneth) of Sidney, Diane Schell (Gunther) of Deltona and Jill Wesbecher (Mark) of Bentonville, Arkansas; his former wife Diane Lee (Terry) of Venice, Florida; and his pets, Charlie and Retriever. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
