It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard Schaffner (Sidney, Ohio), born in Washington Township, Ohio, who passed away on December 8, 2018, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son Charles Gillespie; and his brothers, Forest, Orville, Vernon and Harold.
He is survived by: his parents, Delmer Schaffner and Bonnie Schaffner (Brown); his children, Charlene Echols (Terry) of Sidney, Regina Long of Greenville, Bill Schellenberg of Sidney and Ben Schellenberg (Michelle) of Piqua; his daughter-in-law Linda Gillespie of Sidney; his sister Virginia Valentine of Botkins; his pet Midnight; and his grandson Don. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelby County Veteran's Office in Leonard's memory.
