He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph H. Barhorst and Rosa Barhorst (Kuther); and his siblings, Lawerence Barhorst and Martha Madigan (Barhorst). He is survived by: his wife Reva Maxine Barhorst (Lehman); his children, Fred, Connie Barhorst, Peg, Jim Neilan, Pam, Joe Mckee, Jerry, Beth Barhorst and Cheryl Niswonger (Barhorst); his grandchildren, Nikki Lavy (Kip Lavy) and Katie Niswonger; and his great grandchildren, Parker Leonard Lavy and Porter E. Lavy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St.Judes Childrens research hospital in Leonards memory.
