He was predeceased by: his parents, Iris Charlotte Fitzgerald (Luckenbill) and Thomas Francis Fitzgerald; his wife Sharon Metz; his siblings, John, George Fitzgerald, Martha Gorham and Joanne Lutes; his half-sister Nicole Renee Fitzgerald; and his son-in-law Paul Hale.
He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda Hale of Warsaw, IN, Teresa (Brad), Kissinger of Kimmell, IN, Mindy (Rodney) and Polor of Washington Square, OH; and his siblings, Tom Fitzgerald of Grand Rapids, MI, Gerald (Jeanette), Bernard Fitzgerald of Sumpter, SC and Sheila Laing of Logansport, IN. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
