He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Stangel and Anna Stangel (Rembold); his siblings, Victor, Dwight, Floyd Stangel, La Donna Lyons and Virgina Hoewischer; and his grandson Mathew Lee Mumaw.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Hoewischer; his children, Janice Mumaw of Versailles and Andy Stangel of Botkins; his granddaughter Emily Wogoman; and his great grandchildren, Kylee and Haylee Wogoman.
