He was predeceased by: his parents, Myron Smith and Sandra Smith (Strohmenger); his daughter Katie Girod; his sister-in-law Kathy Girod; and his nephew Andrew Francis.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Girod of Ludlow Falls and Sarah VanGundy (Zac) of Columbus; his granddaughter Briella VanGundy; and his siblings, Ed Girod, Kenneth Girod of Sidney, Tracy Francis of Sidney, Daniel Girod of Sidney and Douglas Smith of Sidney.
