He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Scherer and Margret Scherer (Ewing); and his wife Bettie Hart. He is survived by: his children, Bill W. Scherer Jr. (Debi) of South Salem and Belinda A. Wical (Dale) of Sidney; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Scherer of Columbus, Benjamin of Sidney and Casey Wical of Sidney; and his sister Connie McCreary of Huber Heights.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of Donor's Choice in Bill's memory.
