He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Reginald Oakes; his grandparents, Frank, Sarah Oakes and Rhoda Reed; his brother Frank; his stepdaughter Kristen Buchanan (John); his son Brody; and his close friends, Jim, Carol Myers, Jason, Erin, Quinne Myers, Skip Campbell, Joe Harris, Kathy Steinmetz, Jack Hall, Linda Howell, Matt Howell and Annette Cookson. He was also cherished by two nephews; great-nieces and – nephews and cousins.
His favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
