He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kessler and Grace Swanger (Gutchall); his wife Lucille; and his siblings, Frank, Kenneth, Don Swanger, Helen Lybarger, Gladys Ewing, Millie Pugh and Beatrice Baker.
He is survived by: his children, James E. Swanger (Denise) of Crestline, Timothy A. Swanger (Karyn) of Cincinnati, Debra K. Sallee (Ernie) of Shelby and Lynn M. Friebel (Ed) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Brandi Jensen (Chad), Dustin Sallee (Jessie), Hunter Swanger (Paige), Courtney, Austin and Connor Swanger; his stepgrandchildren, Sharri Patrick (Jim), Chad Sallee (Shelia), Aarika Friebel and Bryson Friebel; his great grandchildren, Lauren Jensen, Heath Jensen, Tristan Sallee, Landen Sallee and Dixie Swanger; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Josh Patrick, Rachel Gilbert (Jordan), Sierra Worcester (Sam), Hunter Gibson (Josh), Casey Sallee, Scarlett, Scotlynn Worcester and Ezra Gilbert; and his siblings, Glenn Swanger and Elsie Sheperd of Shelby. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
