He was predeceased by: his wife Donna Jean Garrett; and his siblings, Donald E. Garrett, Robert E. Garrett, Arlene Maciorowski and Eleanor Phillips.

He is survived by: his children, Eric Garrett (Caren) of Shelby, Kurt Garrett of Willard and Michele Gesing (Eric) of Shelby; and his grandchildren, Gabriel Gesing, Jordann Hamilton (Jacob), Jacquelynn and Carson Garrett. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
