He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Laverne "Vern" and Elma A. Kooken (Woodworth); his grandson Eric Kooken; his son Brian L. Kooken; his son-in-law Thomas L. Adkins; and his brother Robert Dale Kooken.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn L. Kooken (Veil); his daughter Elaine Adkins of Shelby; his grandchildren, Jeff Adkins (Sondra), Craig Adkins and Chris Adkins (Emily); his son Gary Kooken (Jill) of Bluffton, SC; his grandchildren, Stacie Eaton (Matthew) and Dominick Pica; his son Dan Kooken (Trish) of Hardeeville, SC; his grandchildren, Megan Fields, Courtney Fields, Erin Jones (John) and Angela Mahek (Mike); and his sister Mary Beth Saunders of Galion. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
